In support of Indonesia’s national effort to control and eliminate Tuberculosis (TB), aligned with the government’s target of achieving a “Indonesia TB-Free” by 2030, the Riau Islands Provincial Health Office, in collaboration with Klinik Medilab, conducted a Mass TB Screening Program across four regions: Kota Batam, Kota Tanjung Pinang, Kabupaten Bintan, and Kabupaten Karimun.
The mass screening program was implemented from 22 October to 15 December 2025, targeting a total of 18,000 individuals. The program aimed to increase early detection coverage of TB cases, actively identify cases within the community, accelerate treatment for individuals infected with TB, and prevent further transmission.
As the implementing partner, Klinik Medilab played a crucial role in supporting the best execution of the program by providing onsite health screening services. One of the key strengths of this initiative was the utilization of mobile X-ray units, which enabled chest radiographic examinations to be performed directly at the screening locations. This approach significantly enhanced efficiency and allowed the program to reach a broader segment of the population.
Klinik Medilab’s mobile X-ray units are equipped with adequate radiology equipment and supported by competent and experienced medical personnel. All examinations were conducted in compliance with healthcare safety and quality standards, ensuring that the screening results could serve as a reliable basis for further diagnostic evaluation and follow-up in accordance with existing regulations.
The implementation of the mass screening program across the four regions reflects the strong commitment of the Riau Islands Provincial Health Office and Klinik Medilab to expanding access to healthcare services, particularly in the early detection of TB. This cross-sector collaboration is expected to enhance public awareness of the importance of regular health screenings and contribute significantly to TB control efforts in the region.
