Food which is contaminated by harmful microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses can cause illnesses. Food can be contaminated by food handlers who are suffering from certain infections, or are carrying the micro-organisms in or on their bodies without showing any symptoms of an infection. So, the management of food industries must minimize the risk of their food becoming microbiologically contaminated by food handlers. One way to do so would be by providing these food handlers with proper health examinations and immunization programs.
